What is Cardfight!! Vanguard?
Cardfight!! Vanguard is a Japanese TCG from Bushiroad, first released in 2011. It followed the release of an anime series of the same name in the same year, and almost all of the cards featured have made their way into the real-life TCG in one form or another.
The aim is to attack your opponent's main unit card (Vanguard) with your own main unit or with your side units (Rear Guards) until you inflict 6 damage on them. When you attack with your Vanguard you may reveal Trigger Units to swing the battle in your favour by boosting attack power and granting special effects, and when you defend you can call unit cards to act as guardians and bolster your defences.

If you're a fan of children's card game anime series, the first few seasons of Cardfight!! Vanguard do a pretty decent job in showing off the game and its mechanics. Episodes are available to watch on the official Youtube channel (dubbed and subbed) and on Crunchyroll (subbed only).
